Swimmers of the Sports Authority of Telangana, on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, showcased their patriotism in a unique and inspiring manner at the GMCB Aquatics Complex, Gachibowli, Hyderabad, on Saturday.

The young swimmers, who regularly undergo training at the swimming pool, proudly displayed the National Flag in the swimming pool as part of the Independence Day celebrations. The innovative gesture by the young athletes reflected their deep sense of patriotism and respect for the nation.

The initiative was appreciated by Sports Authority of Telangana (SATG) chairman Sivasena Reddy, MD Dr Soni Baladevi, and administrator Kannam Madhu, who congratulated the young swimmers for their enthusiastic participation and patriotic spirit.

The unique celebration by the swimmers added a special touch to the Independence Day festivities and inspired everyone present at the Aquatics Complex.

Meanwhile, the 80th Independence Day celebrations were held in a grand manner at LB Stadium on Saturday under the aegis of the Sports Authority of Telangana. A large number of sportspersons, sports enthusiasts, parents, coaches, Sports Authority staff and their family members participated in the celebrations.

On the occasion, Dr A Sonibala Devi unfurled the National Flag and paid her respects. She extended her warm Independence Day greetings to all the sportspersons and participants.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sonibala Devi said that Telangana sportspersons should strive to secure top positions across all disciplines in the upcoming Khelo India Youth Games–2026. She expressed the hope that athletes from the State would continue to perform at the highest level in all forthcoming sporting competitions and enhance the reputation of Telangana at the national and international levels.

“Telangana sportspersons should excel and bring laurels to the State as well as country in the upcoming national and international sporting events, including the 8th edition of the Khelo India Youth Games–2026,” said Sonibala Devi.

She further stated that the Sports Authority of Telangana would always remain committed to identifying sporting talent and encouraging promising sportspersons. The Authority is working to provide talented athletes with the necessary support, training and encouragement to help them realise their full potential, she added.

Administrative officer Anita, deputy directors Raviteja, Ravinder, Srinivas and Ashok Kumar, engineer Srinivas, accounts officer Sireesha, assistant directors K R Bhattar and Ashwini Dadpe, along with other officials, staff, coaches and sportspersons, participated in the programme.
