State giving equal importance to para sports, says SATG chairman Shiv Sena Reddy

Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATG) chairman Shiv Sena Reddy stated that equal importance is being given to para sports, while ensuring that there is no discrimination in sports. He made these remarks while felicitating badminton winners of the 27th National Senior Deaf Sports Championship at his chamber on Thursday.

Telangana shuttlers had done extremely well at the All India Sports of Deaf and Dumb competitions held in Chandigarh recently.  B Gopi secured silver and bronze medals in the Under-18 category, while in the Under-16 category, K S R Hasini Reddy won gold and silver medals and in the Under-18 category, Surya secured a bronze medal.

Speaking on the occasion, Shiv Sena Reddy said: “Sports should serve as a platform that offers equal opportunities to all. With the objective of eliminating discrimination, we are giving special priority to para games. Para sports competitions were also conducted separately as part of the CM Cup. During the previous summer coaching camps, special training was provided to para athletes, and similar dedicated training programs will be organized this year as well.”

He further noted that the encouragement extended by chief minister Revanth Reddy’s government to Paralympian Deepthi Jeevanji has inspired many athletes across the state. He assured that the government will continue to extend full support for the development of para-athletes.

Athletes, coaches, and SATG officials were present on the occasion.
