Divyanshu Dewangan and Shambhavi Kshirsagar notched a world record total on way to winning the 10m air rifle mixed team event and adding another gold to India’s burgeoning medals tally at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2026 in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday.

The two Indian shooters finished with a total of 499.9, a junior world record, to top the podium ahead of Chinese Taipei’s Tsai Chieh-Ying and Chen You-An (498.3). France’s Tifenn Pomes and Gaspard Lesieur (434.4) bagged bronze in the four-team final.

Earlier in the day, Divyanshu Dewangan and Shambhavi Kshirsagar also topped qualification with a 632.0 total. The other Indian team of Naraen Pranav Vanitha Suresh and Aneesha Sharma failed to make the cut for the final after finishing with seventh in qualification with a score of 623.3.

In the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol final, India’s only competitor Sameer missed out on the podium after finishing seventh. Sameer had earlier secured second place in qualification with a score of 573 – 20x, finishing behind Arnaud Gamaleri, who equalled the junior world record after shooting a total of 589 – 17x.

Sagnik Banerjee, Abhinav Choudhary, Sahil Choudhary, Bhanu Pratap Singh Shekhawat and Pranshu Suryawanshi all failed to make the cut after finishing outside the top eight in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol qualification.

The sole title on Friday took India’s tally at the Junior ISSF World Cup in Cairo to 12, four gold, five silver and three bronze, more than any other federation in the competition.
