CrossFit 9one hosted its annual 24-Hour Rowing Challenge on Sunday, bringing together more than 100 participants, including Olympians, Ironman athletes, HYROX competitors, business leaders, coaches and fitness enthusiasts, for a continuous 24-hour rowing challenge to raise funds for charity.
Participants this year included Nisha Milllet, Olympian; Sagar, Ironman world championship qualifier; Mita Patnayak, HYROX brand ambassador and athlete; and Ankit Kataria, HYROX World Championship qualifier, alongside CEOs, CFOs, entrepreneurs, working professionals, coaches and members of the CrossFit 9one community.
The challenge featured 10 rowing machines, with eight kept in continuous motion throughout the 24 hours as participants took turns to keep the rowers moving. Two additional machines remained open to members of the community, allowing anyone to participate for as little as five minutes or for longer durations.
The initiative has grown steadily since its inception, with funds raised increasing from ₹1.5 lakh in the first year to ₹2.5 lakh the following year. This year, CrossFit 9one is targeting ₹3 lakh, with contributions driven primarily by its own members, who participate directly and engage their personal networks to support the cause.
The funds raised this year will be distributed across multiple causes, including Jnan Mandir in Indiranagar, which supports underprivileged girls; a school for visually impaired children; and other local organisations working with communities in need. In previous years, the initiative has supported organisations working with underprivileged children and girls, Assam flood relief efforts and other grassroots causes.
Beyond the athletes on the rowing machines, the challenge involved the wider CrossFit 9one community, with members supporting participants through food, hydration, fuelling, encouragement and team support throughout the 24 hours. The initiative reflects CrossFit 9one’s belief that fitness can extend beyond individual performance to create a positive impact in the wider community.
