Bhagath Varma bowls Team C to 53-run win; Ghazi Abbas takes five, Aman Rao scores 96

K Bhagath Varma and Syed Ghazi Abbas took five wickets apiece but the former’s effort helped Team C score a 53-run win over Team A in the HCA’s Senior Men’s Super League at the ROKO cricket ground in Hyderabad on Thursday.

After taking a narrow nine-run lead, Team C found themselves in a lot of trouble in their second innings.  Team C lost GSK Reddy (0), Abhirath Reddy M (6), Mayank Gupta (4), Nihaal Reddy (2) and SM Hussain (0) with just 17 on the board. Abrar Mohiuddin and Syed Ghazi Abbas took two wickets apiece with Abhirath was run out by Sunkari Dheeraj.

Syed Ghazi Abbas took five wickets but his efforts went in vain as K Bhagath Varma bowled Team C to victory over Team A 

M Pratyush Kumar (34) and Yash Satwalekar (23) then stitched a 53-run partnership for the sixth wicket but Team A struck back and reduced Team C to 98 for seven. Pratyush was run out by Abdul Ela Al Quraishi and Yash was snapped up by P Nitish Reddy off T Aniketh Reddy.

Pranav Varma then scored 32 to take Team C to 123 in 37.3 overs. Syed Ghazi Abbas took five for 43.

Needing 133 for victory, Team A began positively with opener A Vignesh Reddy getting 32 off 22 balls with seven fours but it was too good to last as he was stumped by Yash Satwalekar off Pratyush Kumar. Vignesh got 32 off the 33 scored for the first wicket. Thereafter, Team A lost their way. The only other batter to get double figures was T Aniketh Reddy who made 13.

Team A lost 10 wickets for 46 runs as they were bundled out for 79 in 18 overs. Bhagat Varma took five for 5 in 6 overs, while Pranav Varma bagged four for47 in nine overs.

Hrishikesh and Mickil hit centuries; Team H and Team D pull of victories within 2 days

In another match, P Aman Rao missed out on a century, while Alankrith R and A Varun Goud scored half-centuries to help Team F take a 170-run lead with four wickets in hand.

After conceding a 151-run first innings lead to Team G, Team F responded well to the challenge. Skipper Aman Rao led from the front as he scored 96 off 136 balls with 13 fours and two sixes.

Alankrith R made 81 off 170 balls with five fours and two sixes and Varun Goud was batting on 84 off 100 balls with nine fours and two sixes.

Anish hits unbeaten ton to steer Bengal to victory

Anish Mahapatra slammed a century to power Bengal Under-19 team to a three-wicket win over Hyderabad Under-19 on Thursday.

Batting first, Hyderabad made 275 with M Durga Ujjwal scoring 50. Jashwanth Mote (39), Aditya Javvaji (31), P Prince (41) and Rithvik Goud (37) got starts but they failed to build upon it. Aneesh Rathi took four for 51 and Hridhi Nag claimed three for 50 for Bengal.

In reply, Bengal made 276 for seven with Anish Mahapatra scoring an unbeaten 130 off 132 balls with 14 fours and four sixes. Dibya Netra Das made 58.

Sanjana grabs four wickets in Team F win

N Sanjana took four wickets to bowl Team F to a 40-run win over Team H in the Women’s Under-19 T20 Super League on Thursday.

Batting first, Team F made 141 for six with Babhita Nagani scoring 40 and D Ananya making 36. In reply, Team H were bowled out for 101 as Sanjana grabbed four for 20.

Brief scores: Team G 151 in 19.5 overs (Pranavi Dabbakuti 44) beat Team E 96/6 in 20 overs.

Team C 112/8 in 20 overs (Tejaswini Katta 43) lost to Team A 115/5 in 15.4 overs (Kammili Nidhi 41, C Deekshitha 31no).

Team D 103/4 in 20 overs (Lalitha R 40) lost to Team B 104/2 in 13.2 overs (G Kavya Sree 43).

Team F 141/6 in 20 overs (Babhita Nagani 40, D Ananya 36) beat Team H 101 in 17.2 overs (N Sanjana 4/20).
