Adilabad emerge overall champions in 2nd CM’s Cup, RR and Karimnagar finish 2nd & 3rd

Adilabad district emerged overall champions in the 2nd Chief Minister’s Cup 2025 which was held in two phases. The competitions were conducted across five distinct stages spanning the village, Mandal, Assembly constituency, district, and state levels.

Ranga Reddy district secured the second place, while Karimnagar district took the third spot.

Vakiti Srihari, Telangana minister for sports and youth services, stated that the CM Cup competitions were organized specifically to unearth the sporting talent or hidden gems from the soil of Telangana and affirmed that this initiative would continue as an ongoing program.

Srihari was speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2nd CM Cup at the Lal Bahadur Indoor Stadium on Tuesday. Trophies and prizes were distributed to the winning teams and players.

Srihari, Sports Authority of Telangana (SATS) chairman Shivsena Reddy, badminton ace Saina Nehwal, and SATS MD Sonibala Devi presented trophies to the winners. SATS also accorded a grand felicitation to various government and private organizations that contributed to the success of the CM Cup competitions, presenting them with mementos.

Srihari emphasized that achieving success in sports requires not only government encouragement but also immense hard work and determination on the part of the athletes; only then, he noted, can athletes be molded into champions.

He urged young athletes to draw inspiration from the lives of sporting icons such as Saina Nehwal, who was also a guest at the closing ceremony.

He further announced that the talented athletes who participated in the CM Cup would be carefully assessed, and, where necessary, specialized training would be provided to them at sports schools and academies.

Speaking on the occasion, Shivsena Reddy stated that the CM Cup competitions are being conducted specifically to identify and recognize sporting talent within Telangana and affirmed that this initiative would move forward as a continuous and ongoing process. He stated that athletes would be identified and encouraged.

AP Jitender Reddy, state government’s sports advisor, said that sports associations played a significant role in the success of the CM Cup competitions, adding that the events proceeded successfully only due to the cooperation extended by numerous government departments and divisions.

Sonibala Devi stated that approximately 540,000 athletes registered online for the CM Cup competitions, and their comprehensive data is currently being collated to cater to various sports-related requirements.

The event was attended by Deputy Sports Officers (DYSOs) from various districts, representatives of sports associations, as well as coaches, officials, and staff members of the Sports Authority.
