Students of Chennai’s Amrita Educational Institutions expressed their admiration for Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik in a unique and spectacular manner. As part of the annual sports meet held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai, a massive human formation was created in the shape of Karthik’s jersey number ‘19’.
Approximately 3,000 students from Amrita institutions across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, and Karnataka participated in the event. Together, they formed an impressive human chain displaying the message ‘CA♡DK19’, leaving spectators amazed.
This remarkable feat has been officially recognized by both the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records as the “Largest Human Formation Representing a Sportsperson’s Jersey Number”.

Dinesh Karthik is a commentator, coach and former international cricketer. Karthik played for the India national team and also captained Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket. He is currently the mentor and batting coach for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League and London Spirit in The Hundred.
Karthik made his debut for the Indian team in 2004. He was the 4th Indian batter to play 300 T20 matches. He was a member of the team that won both the inaugural 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.
Karthik is also the first Indian ever to win a Player of The Match award in a T20 International, having done so in 2006. Known for his six hitting ability, aggressive batting style, longevity and ability to finish games strong, Karthik was viewed as a crucial asset in the IPL and the India national cricket team for almost two decades.
The event was conducted under the leadership of chairman R Bhoominathan. Dinesh Karthik attended the function as the chief guest, while Dr K Narayana Swamy, vice chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr M G R Medical University, graced the occasion as the guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhoominathan stated that the initiative aimed to instill values such as dedication, perseverance, teamwork, coordination, and patience among students. He emphasized that sports play a vital role in personality development.
The annual sports meet featured competitions in cricket, volleyball, throwball, football, kabaddi, athletics, and several other disciplines, all conducted successfully.
