Akaash Nair and Vishnu Keerthi win singles titles in badminton meet of NaSA Sports Fest

Akaash Nair and Vishnu Keerthi won the singles titles in the men’s and women’s open category in the badminton tournament of the NaSA Sports Fest Season 1 at the Pro Badminton Academy in Nallagandla, Hyderabad.

Akaash Nair, in the round-robin league format, won all his three matches and scored six points to emerge champion. Samath Panjwani won two matches and lost one. He finished with four points and ended as runner-up to Nair.

In the women’s category, which was also played in a round-robin league format, Vishnu Keerthi won all her three matches to end up with six points and take home the crown. Manasa scored four points as she lost a match to settle for the runner-up position.

In the Men’s Masters (25+) category, Sreekar Shanmukha won the championship after he garnered six points from his three matches. Bhargava Velpuri won two matches of three played and ended as runner-up.

In the men’ seniors (35+) category, Raghu Vamsi defeated Purna M 30-13 to emerge champion.

In the men’s doubles Masters’ category, Sreekar and Kushal overcame a fighting Sivaram and Gopi in a thrilling three game affair. Sreekar and Kushal lost the first set at 18-21 but pulled up their socks in time to win the next two games. Sreekar and Kushal won 21-17, 21-14 to wear the winner’s crown.

In the men’s doubles Seniors’ category, Raghu and Vamsi defeated Vikram and Kishore 21-14, 22-20 and Sekhar and Anil won the Super Seniors (45+) title by defeating Vijay and Sunil 2116, 21-8.

In the women’s doubles open category, Maithili and Triveni defeated Sushma and Vidya 21-11, 21-15 to emerge champions.

In the mixed doubles Open category, Manasa and Ujjwal defeated Janani and Razzak 21-14 to take home the title.

In the Masters’ category, Raghu Vamsi and Sireesha won all of their four matches to bag 8 points. By virtue of remaining undefeated they emerged champions. Bhargava Velpuri and Rama lost one match and had to settle for the runner-up position with six points to their credit.

In the mixed doubles Seniors’ category, Kishore and Mathili took home medal without hitting a shuttle. Their opponents Vikram and Triveni gave a walk-over.

NaSa kids badminton

Dhanishka, Charishma, Rachit and Ajay triumph

There was plenty of action and thrills in the kids’ section as Dhanishka Basa took home the girls’ Under-12 singles title. Dhanishka defeated Manasvini Siripuram 21-2, 21-4 in what turned out to be a one-sided encounter.

In the girls’ Under-16 category, Charishma Basa emerged champion.

In the boys’ Under-12 category, Rachit Reddy had an easy outing against Aarya Gupta as he won 21-4, 21-4.

The boys’ Under-16 category singles title was claimed by Dhulipudi Ajay who defeated P N Daivik 21-15, 21-19.
