Hyderabad women crashed to a 141-run loss to Kerala in the third round of the BCCI Senior Women’s One-day Trophy Elite at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on Tuesday.

Chasing 288 for victory, openers G Trisha and Sandhya Gora gave their side a flying start. The duo flayed the Kerala attack as they put up 98 on the board off 136 balls with Trisha scoring a 64-ball 52 and Sandhya making a patient 41 off 72 balls.

However, once Trisha (7×4, 1×6) was run out by Sajana S, the Hyderabad innings collapsed like a pack of cards.

Kunhala Niteesha (3) and Vanka Pooja (3) went back to the pavilion without much ado. Sandhya Gora too fell at the score reading 120.  She made an 83-ball 55 with six boundaries.

Thereafter, the Hyderabad batters surrendered rather meekly as they were bowled out for 148 in 38 overs.

Sajana S took three for 16, Shani T bagged three for 29 and Asha S took two for 33.

Earlier Kerala, electing to bat, rode on a 147 opening wicket partnership between captain Shani T and Akshaya A. The duo looked untroubled by the Hyderabad bowlers and piled on the runs before Shani was run out by Yashasri for 62 off 77 balls with seven fours.

Akshaya then added 51 for the second wicket with Pranavi Chandra before falling to Srujana for a well-made 97 which came off 140 balls with 11 fours.

Pranavi made 26 before being run out by Yashasri and then Sajana S made 29 and Drishya IV scored 37 as Kerala ran up 289 for seven in 50 overs. Kunchala Niteesha took two for 44.

After three rounds, Hyderabad are in the seventh position out of eight teams with one win and two losses.

Brief scores: Kerala 289/7 in 50 overs (Shani T 62, Akshaya A 97, Drishya I V 37) beat Hyderabad 148 in 38 overs (G Trisha 52, Sandhya Gora 55, Sajana S 3/16, Shani T 3/29).
