Registrations for Project Leap, an elite shooting programme, to start soon

Project Leap marks 10 years of empowering young shooting athletes with world-class training, elite coaching, and a 100% training scholarship program. Project Leap is a multi-phased sponsored project designed by Gagan Narang sports Promotion Foundation for selected shooting athletes in collaboration with Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ).

Project Leap camp started in 2017. So far 30+ camps have been successfully completed and ongoing. 108 plus athletes have benefitted by the programme. 120 plus international medals and 200 plus national medals have been won by the shooters during this period.

The aim of the programme is to improve performance in technical, physical and mental aspects of the sport which will ultimately help shooters to take a leap at the national and international level.

An athlete will get 100% training scholarship. The athlete will be trained by elite Indian and foreign coaches. Sports science and performance analysis will be conducted regularly. The athlete will also have ammunition, equipment and camp support. Apart from this, there will be regular monitoring and assessments.

How is eligible to apply for the programme? Athletes must be below the age of 21 years and qualified for NRAI’s selection trials are eligible to enroll themselves.

The programme covers the following events: 10M air rifle, 10M air pistol, 50M rifle 3P and 25M pistol.

The High-Performance coaches, who will train and monitor the shooters are Anton Belak of Slovakia, Peter Sidi of Hungary, dina Aspandiyarova of Australia, Anne Grethe Jeppesen of Norway, Andrija Zlatic of Serbia, Uwe Knapp of Germany, Manuela Schmermund of Germany and Kim Seonil of South Korea.
