Sindhu and Lakshya reach quarterfinals

P V Sindhu scored a hard-fought win over Denmark’s Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt to enter the quarterfinals of the Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2026 in Jakarta on Thursday.

The Indian will face top seed Chen Yu Fei on Friday. With Chen leading their head-to-head 7–6, the quarters promises to be closely fought encounter.

Sindhu booked her spot with a 21-19, 21-18 win over Kjaersfeldt in 43 minutes.

Seventh seed Lakshya Sen also advanced and will take on Thailand’s Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul after a dominant 21-10, 21-11 victory over Hong Kong’s Jason Gunawan in another 43 minutes battle.

Anmol Kharb challenged former world No.1 and Olympic bronze medallist Nozomi Okuhara by winning the first game 21-16 before bowing out.

Kidambi Srikanth and men’s doubles Hariharan Amsakarunan/M R Arjun also exited the tournament.

In other matches, Loh Kean Yew reached his second quarterfinal out of three competitions this season. The Singaporean shuttler overcame home hope Zaki Ubaidillah 21-19, 21-10.

It was a satisfying result for Loh, who fell to a shock defeat to Ubaidillah 41 days ago in his quest for a first SEA Games gold medal in Bangkok, Thailand. The 28-year-old returned to his opponent’s home nation to seal an important win in just 39 minutes.

Next up for former world champion Loh is world No. 6 Chou Tien-chen on Friday, as he aims for a first Super 500 title in two-and-a-half years.

Elsewhere in the men’s draw, Lee Zii Jia saw his campaign brought to an end at the round of 16 stage. After taking the opening game, the Malaysian star fell to a 15-21, 21-17, 21-8 defeat to Thailand’s Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul.
