Second phase of CM Cup 2025 kicks off on January 17, preparations in full swing

Around two lakh athletes have registered online for the second phase of the CM Cup 2025, which kicks off on January 17. The CM Cup will be conducted at five stages: village, mandal/municipality, assembly constituency, district, and state level.

Preparations have been completed for conduct of the tournament, which is being organized by the Sports Authority of Telangana along with the Telangana State Department of Sports. For the first time, the competitions are being held at the assembly constituency level.

Last year, nearly three lakh athletes participated in the CM Cup competitions. With the inclusion of the assembly level this time, the number of participants is expected to increase further.

Awareness through sports torch rallies

To increase awareness about sports among the youth, Sports Torch rallies were conducted in all mandal headquarters across the state. Young athletes participated enthusiastically. The goal of the tournament is to recognize and groom rural talent.

Shiv Sena Reddy, chairman, Sports Authority of Telangana, said that the CM Cup was a resounding success last year, and the second phase is being conducted with the same spirit. He called upon rural athletes to participate in large numbers.

AP Jitender Reddy, sports advisor to the state government, said that the competitions will be successful with the coordination of sports associations, PETs, physical directors, and sports enthusiasts.

Modern Technological Support

Dr Soni Baladevi, MD of Sports Authority of Telangana, said that comprehensive information for CM Cup 2025 will be provided through an AI call center, WhatsApp bot, website, and AI chatbot. She revealed that arrangements have been made to computerize and securely store the details of every participating athlete.

The competition schedule is as follows:

Gram Panchayat level: January 17 to 22

Mandal/Municipality level: January 28 to 31

Assembly Constituency level: February 3 to 5

District level: February 9 to 12

State level: February 20 to 23

Winners at the village level will be selected for the mandal level, and from there to the assembly constituency, district, and finally the state level.
