Opener Karan Kumar Pattanayak struck a timely century to spur Sportive to a six-wicket victory over Rohit XI in the final of the HCA’s B Division (2-day) League Championship at the Green View cricket ground in Hyderabad on Saturday.
Chasing 267 for victory, Sportive lost opener Vikram Basettigari with 13 on the board. Vikram as caught by B Sakshith Ram off Kunde Pavan Kumar for a 12-ball 12, all his runs came off boundaries (3×4).

Buoyed by the wicket, Rohit XI went on the offensive but their efforts were stalled by Karan and Mota Varun Tej. The left-handed batters rebuilt the innings with a solid partnership that laid the foundation for the victory.
Karan and Varun added 98 off 105 balls for the second wicket with Karan contributing 53 off 50 balls and Varun making 41 off 55 balls. Varun was caught by Azharuddin Qureshi off Akula Sai Chandra and his knock contained six hits to the fence.
After Varun’s departure, Karan found another able partner in skipper Nanavath Rakesh and the duo ensured a solid victory for Sportive. The pair added 87 off 122 balls with Rakesh contributing 30 off 60 balls and Karan making 53 off 62 balls before falling.
Karan was caught by Mizra Houzef Baig off Azharuddin Qureshi for 107 off 119 balls with 12 fours and a six.
Rakesh and Vallepu Murthy added 26 for the fourth wicket before Rakesh was caught by substitute Adit Somendra off Sakshith Ram for 36. His runs came off 95 balls and contained three sixes.
At 224 for four, Sportive were in some bit of trouble but Murthy and newman Mohd Liakhath Hussain put to rest Rohit XI’s hopes with an unbeaten 44-run partnership off just 24 balls. Sportive reached 268 for four in 53.5 overs with Murthy unbeaten on 51 off 36 balls with nine fours and a six. Hussain was not out on 7.

C Division League: Manikumar 210 in 42.1 overs (K Sri Vidhath 44, D Harshavardhan 50, Prashanth 33, A Rajashekar 3/21, Karthik 3/15) beat MP Sporting 118 in 27 overs (H Krishna 37no, K Shekar 3/28).

Aaryan Rath hit a century to help to prop up Team B against Team F in the HCA’s Under-16 Super League.

Batting first, Team B ran up 327 thanks to Aaryan’s 177 which came off 170 balls with 25 fours and three sixes. He was ably supported by Raghaav Narayan (65). Sushen Katepally took four for 68 to restrict Team B score. In reply, Team F were 41 for three at stumps.
