Suruchi Singh and Kamaljeet delivered a commanding performance to win gold in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Friday, giving India their first shooting gold of the Asian Games 2026.

The Haryana duo held their nerve through the final to finish with 484.6 points, setting a new Asian Record in the process. Their score surpassed the previous continental mark of 481.3, set by Uzbekistan earlier this year, and fell just 3.8 points short of the world record.
Suruchi and Kamaljeet established an early lead in the final and remained in control despite a challenge from South Korea. The Indian pair eventually finished 6.6 points clear of their Korean opponents, who took silver with 478 points. Iran claimed bronze with 415.8.
It was also India’s second gold medal of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games and marked the country’s first shooting gold at the Games.

Earlier, Suruchi and Kamaljeet had topped qualification in emphatic fashion, producing series of 196, 195 and 196 to aggregate 587-29x and secure their place in the final.
Their qualification score also set a new Asian Games Qualification Record, eclipsing the previous mark of 577 set by Indian pair Sarabjot Singh and Divya Subbaraju at the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023.
Suruchi & Kamaljeet equal existing Asian record
The score of 587-29x by Suruchi-Kamaljeet also saw the pair equal the existing Asian Record for the event, held by India’s Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary after their performance at the ISSF World Cup in Osijek, Croatia, in 2021.
Iran finished second in qualification with 584-17x, followed by South Korea with 582-23x and Indonesia with 580-30x.

Interestingly, a late change to the mixed team pairing proved decisive for India as the pair of Suruchi-Kamaljeet delivered much-awaited first shooting gold for India in the ongoing Asian Games in Japan.
Meanwhile, congratulating the India pair for their tremendous achievement, National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) president Shri Kalikesh Singh Deo said: “This is a remarkable achievement by Suruchi and Kamaljeet.
