Golden Phoenixes thrashed Alpha Basketball Academy 78-12, while State Bank of India (Amaravati Circle) overcame a fighting Mayors 64-46 as action resumed after a day’s break in the GM Sampath Kumar Annual League Basketball Championship 2026-27 at YMCA Secunderabad on Monday.

Golden Phoenixes began on a rousing note as they had got a full measure of Alpha Basketball Academy. The Golden Phoenixes hoopsters were in their elements from the word go and scored 19 points in the first quarter with Vikram and Sai doing most of the scoring. On the other hand, Alpha Basketball Academy struggled to test the rival defenders and, hence, failed to score even a single point. Golden Phoenixes ended the first quarter at 19-0.
In the second quarter, Abhishek and Shashank played well for Alpha Basketball Academy but they were unable to translate all the good work into baskets. Abhishek used his height to score off the rebound, but they were able to get just two points.
Golden Phoenixes up the ante
On the other hand, Golden Phoenixes continued with the same rhythm of the first quarter and went on to add 14 point to take a handy 33-2 lead at the break.

After change of ends, Abhishek and Shashank tried hard in scoring baskets through fast breaks but it was of no avail. Golden Phoenixes chipped in with baskets at will as they amassed a massive 45 points, with nine 3-pointers, in the third and fourth quarters to finish the game on a rousing note. They stole the thunder in their emphatic 78-12 over their rivals.
In another match, State Bank of India (Amravathi Circle) got the better of Mayors 64-46 after leading 36-19 at half-time. Sagar and Bijoy combined well in the 1st half for SBI (Amravati Circle), while Dileep and Shivam delivered the goods in the second half.
Krishna and Ahishiek scored 14 and 12 points respectively for Mayors, who gave their opponents a run for their money.
