Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) continued with their winning ways as they hammered Defence Accounts Sports Control Board 10-2 in the 6th Hockey India Senior Men Inter-Department National Championship 2026 at the Gachibowli Hockey Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Petroleum Sports Promotion Board, Punjab National Bank, Comptroller & Auditor General of India, Sports Authority of India, All India Police Sports Control Board, Central Board of Direct Taxes, Railway Sports Promotion board & Food Corporation of India made it to the quarterfinals, which will be played on September 11, 2026.
CAG too good for Defence
In their Pool B match, CAG took their time to warm up but once they got their bearings there was no looking back. Mohammed Raheel scored the first goal in the 11th minute through a penalty corner. That opened up the sluice gates as CAG pumped in four more goals before half-time.

After the break, they scored five more goals while Defence Accounts got two consolatory goals in the 59th minute through Srijan Yadav and Alok Sharma. Abharan Suden B was the hero for CAG as he struck four goals. Angad Bir Singh got two.
PSB down CRPF
In another pool B match, Punjab & Sind Bank scored a comfortable 5-2 win over Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) but their effort went in vain as the failed to make it to the last eight.
Prabhdeep Singh opened the scoring for Punjab & Sind Bank in the 5th minute but weathered a heavy battle for CRPF.

In Pool A, defending champions Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) kept their campaign on track with a 6-1 win over ITBP Central Hockey Team
CRPF managed to find the equalizer in the 20th minute through the stick of Samsher but PSB took the lead again three minutes later through Jaskaran Singh and thereafter there was no conceding ground.

In Pool A, defending champions Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) kept their campaign on track with a 6-1 win over ITBP Central Hockey Team.
Gursimran Singh scored a brace to power Punjab National Bank to a 5-0 win over Sasastra Seema Bal in another pool A match.
In Pool C, Services Sports Control Board registered a 5-2 win over Union Bank of India and Central Board of Direct Taxes overpowered Steel Plant Sports Board 7-4.

In Pool D, Food Corporation of India defeated Canara Bank 3-1 to book their quarterfinal berth, while Central Industrial Security Force overcame Tamil Nadu Police 5-3 with both teams knocked out of the tournament.

Pool C: Services Sports Control Board 5 (Atish Dodrai 7th, 14th; Selvaraj Kanagaraj 35th, 37th; Akshay Dubey 47th) beat Union Bank of India 2 (Karthik Ramesh Patare 16th; Mohammad Zameer 56th).

Central Industrial Security Force 5 (Kerobin Lakra 4th; Manoj Yadav 27th; Raman 33rd, 52nd; Govind Singh Bisht 59) beat Tamil Nadu Police 3 (Mathan M 7th, 36th; Nandhakrishnan K 60+).
