Birla Blazers wiped out a first quarter deficit to thump Charminar Chargers 45-34 and pocket their second consecutive victory in the Sub-Junior & Youth League 2026 for Boys & Girls conducted by The Hyderabad District Basketball Association at the YMCA Secunderabad on Friday evening.
Birla Blazers were trailing 6-9 at the end of the first quarter but came back in style to lead 16-9 at the half-time before charging past Charminar and snapping their two-match win streak.
Birla Blazers sail past Secunderabad Stallions
Aairah and Anika played brilliantly for Charminar Chargers as they scored nine points to put their side on top. For a major part of the first quarter, Charminar kept the Birla Blazers hoopsters at bay. However, Pranavi brought some parity for Birla Blazers by scoring two late baskets as Charminar Chargers led 9-6 at end of the first quarter.

Charminar Chargers were handicapped in the second quarter as only two of their bench strength turned up and Birla Blazers duly capitalized on it. They scored 10 points through Dishi, Vaishnavi and Yagna as Birla Blazers snatched the lead.
Blazers charge past Charminar
After change of ends, Charminar Charger played a fast-paced game and scored briskly through Aairah and Anika to score 17 points. However, Pranavi of Birla Blazers stole the show as she was just unstoppable. The hoopster got 9 of the 16 points scored by Birla Blazers as her side led 32-26 at the end of the third quarter.
The last quarter started well with Anika and Aairah quickly scored 2 baskets to bridge the gap to just 4 points at 30-32. However, Amrutha’s 3-points came as a relief and thereafter Charminar Charger were playing a catch-up game while Pranavi and Dishi scored baskets through fast break to win the match 45-34.
Dishi of Birla Blazers finished with 16 points
Dishi finished with 16 points and Pranavi had 14 to her credit. For Charminar, Aairah topped the tally with 16 points and Anika got 12.
On Thursday night, Charminar Chargers has scored a narrow 18-15 win over Golconda Gladiators in a low-scoring game. Charminar Chargers had led 6-5 at half-time.
Gladiators maul Blazers
In the Sub-Junior boys’ category, Golconda Gladiators mauled Birla Blazers on way to a resounding 42-29 victory. Manideep and Ansh were in top form for Golconda as they scored 16 and 14 points respectively.
Results: Sub-junior girls: Birla Blazers 45 (Dishi 16, Pranavi 14, Yagna 6, Amrutha 5) beat Charminar Chargers 34 (Aairah 16, Anika 12, Saavnika 4) HT: 16-9.
Charminar Chargers 18 (Anika 10, Aairah 4) beat Golconda Gladiators 15 (Chelna 7, Sahasra 4, Oisiki 2) HT: 6-5.
Sub-Junior boys: Golconda Gladiators 42 (Manideep 16, Ansh 14, Rahman 5) beat Birla Blazers 29 (Rishon 9, Trishul 7, Bhavyesh 7) HT: 17-21.
