Naishik Reddy downs Prasad Ingale in final to win Gondwana Cup tennis tourney in Raipur

Telangana’s Naishik Reddy Ganagama, the second seed, defeated top seed Prasad Ingale of Maharashtra to win the Gondwana Cup All India Men’s Rs 1 lakh Tennis Tournament 2026 at the International Tennis Stadium in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

In a closely fought final, Naishik Reddy managed to get the better of Prasad in straight sets 7-6(4), 6-4. The first set was a thrilling affair with both players dishing out their best. In a neck-and-neck battle, Naishik managed to keep his nose ahead as he won 7-6 (4) in the tiebreaker.

In the second set, Naishik stayed ahead of his rival as he carved out a 6-4 win to emerge champion. Naishik did not lose a single set right through the tournament.

In the semifinals, Naishik overcame a fighting third seed Anup Mahadev Bangargi of Maharashtra 7-6 (5), 6-2. Naishik prevailed over Anup in the exciting first set via the tiebreaker at 7-6 (5). In the next set, Naishik brooked no challenge as he romped to a 6-2 win.

In the quarterfinals, Naishik defeated unseeded Prabir Mukesh Chavda of Gujarat in straight sets. Naishik won 6-2, 6-4.

Naishik was felicitated by Arun Sao, deputy chief minister of Chhattisgarh, and Anil Dhupar secretary general of AITA.

Naishik Reddy trains at the Suresh Krishna Tennis Academy under the supervision of coaches Suresh Krishna and Kaza Vinayak. Naishik is being mentored by former Olympian & Davis Cupper J Vishnu Vardhan.

Results (final): Naishik Reddy Ganagama (Telangana) beat Prasad Ingale (Maharashtra) 7-6(4), 6-4.

Semifinal: Naishik Reddy Ganagama beat Anup Mahadev Bangargi (Maharashtra) 7-6(5), 6-2.

Quarterfinal: Naishik Reddy Ganagama beat Prabir Mukesh Chavda (Gujarat) 6-2, 6-4.
