Adhrit, Shivanya, Ashrit and Suheera emerge champs at SLAN Hyderabad Kids Chess

Adhrit Padhy won the Under-14 boys’ title at the SLAN Hyderabad Kids Chess Tournament at Rockwell School in Kokapet, Hyderabad. Adhrit finished with five points to be on top of the table. He was followed by Sai Sathvik Jayampu with four points and Aayansh Mukhopadhyay also on four points.

In the girls’ section, Shivanya Singanamalla took the honours with 4.5 points to her credit. Chidwilasini Kummarikuntla finished seconed with 3.5 points and Shri Thashathika S came third with three points.

In the Under-9 boys’ section, Ashrit Padhy won the title by garnering five points. Yuvan Rodda too had five points but was placed second, while Rachuri Vihaan Kumar bagged the third spot with four points.

In the girls’ category, Shaik Y Suheera Mehreen emerged champion with four points, while P Ch Ruthvika came in second with 3 points. P Dharani too had three points but was placed third.

The event was organized by Naveen Naik, chief operating officer of SLAN Sports Foundation, who emphasized the importance of chess in enhancing concentration, analytical skills, and strategic thinking among children.

Naik stated that SLAN will continue to promote grassroots chess tournaments to nurture young talent and provide them with competitive platforms.

The tournament witnessed intense competition and remarkable sporting spirit among the participants.

Results: Under-9 boys: 1. Ashrit Padhy (5 points), 2. Yuvan Rodda (5 points), 3. Rachuri Vihaan Kumar (4 points), 4. Agasthya Madaubhushi (4 points), 5. Vikrant (4 points), 6. Shrey Basanwar (4 points), 7. Kabir Mohan (4 points).

Under-9 girls: 1. Shaik Y Suheera Mehreen (4 points), 2. P Ch Ruthvika (3 points), 3. P Dharani (3 points), 4. Shri Vishishta Janammolla (2 points), 5. Jaya Sri Karthikeyee Yarramsetty (2 points), 6. Sristi Shivangi (2 points), 7. Shri Jivika S (2 points).

Under-14 boys: 1. Adhrit Padhy (5 points), 2. Sai Sathvik Jayampu (4 points), 3. Aayansh Mukhopadhyay (4 points), 4. Choudhury Reyansh (4 points), 5. Nedunoori Abhiram Reddy (4 points), 6. Ashvik Kumar (4 points), 7. Vihaan Tej Ampelli (3½ points).

U-14 girls: 1. Shivanya Singanamalla (4½ points), 2. Chidwilasini Kummarikuntla (3½ points), 3. Shri Thashathika S (3 points), 4. Danne Moukthika Ram (2½ points), 5. Hunmayi Pokuri (2 points).
