Lovlina Borgohain wins gold as India finish with 19 medals at Boxam Elite International

Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain led India’s gold rush at the Boxam Elite International 2026 boxing tournament, which concluded in La Nucia, Alicante, in Spain on Sunday.

Indian boxers finished the Boxam Elite International with 19 medals, which included nine golds and three silvers secured on the final day of competition.

The Indian boxing contingent had secured seven bronze medals earlier as India emerged as the most successful nation at the meet. In a standout achievement, India was represented in seven women’s finals, including an all-Indian title clash in the 54kg division. All of these yielded gold medals.

Lovlina showcased her trademark control and composure in the 75kg final to register a 4-1 victory over England’s Mary-Kate Smith.

Manju Rani (48kg) and Nitu Ghanghas (51kg) opened proceedings with emphatic unanimous decision wins over Spain’s Marta Lopez and Noelia Gutierrez, respectively, before Poonam (54kg) edged compatriot Preeti Pawar in a hard-fought all-Indian final.

Priya (60kg) and former youth world champion Arundhati Choudhary (70kg) followed with commanding 5-0 victories over Ukrainian opponents. Naina (80kg) completed the sweep with a measured win over Ukraine’s Raisa Piskun.

In the men’s finals, Sachin Siwach (60kg) produced one of the day’s most gripping contests, edging Canada’s Keoma-Ali Al Ahmadieh 3-2, while Akash (75kg) added another gold after a tense 3-2 win over Kazakhstan’s Aman Konsbekov.

Deepak (70kg) and Ankush (80kg) settled for silver medals after losing to opponents from Kazakhstan and Ukraine, respectively.
