Hyderabad, after the bowlers were hammered to all parts of the park on the first day, batters put up an insipid show to hand out the match to Tamil Nadu on a platter.

Tamil Nadu took the honours by virtue of their 199-run first innings lead in the South Zone Inter-State Under-14 tournament in Vizianagaram on Wednesday.

Replying to Tamil Nadu’s huge 448 for seven declared, Hyderabad began on a disastrous note. Akhileshwar Reddy fell on the third ball of the innings, caught by Niyaal Lalik off Chetan Kumar, for a duck.

To make matters worse, Hyderabad lost three more wickets, all of them fell to Niyaal Lalik, to be reduce to 27 for four in 9.2 overs. Mettu Dakshdeep was caught by Harichandran G off Niyaal Lalik for 5, Jagath Roshan was bowled by Niyaal Lalik for a duck and Yuvan Srikanth Raj was caught behind by Sanjay B off Niyaal Lalik for one.

Skipper and opener Rakesh Sekhar, who was stranded at one end and watching the batters parade, then found a partner in Medhansh Agarwal.  The duo added 68 for the fifth wicket to revive the innings but it was a short-lived victory as Tamil Nadu struck again.

Medanshi was caught by Sanjay B off Harichandran after making 29 off 61 balls with two fours and two sixes. Rakesh too fell soon thereafter. He was caught by Kabilan off Harichandran after making 50 off 97 balls. He struck seven fours and two sixes.

Wicketkeeper Raghaav Narayan and Nikil Sekhar added 41 for the seventh wicket before Nikil (13) was caught by Chetan Kumar off Harichandran.

Thereafter, Hyderabad struck a purple patch as Raghaav and P Vivaan Reddy combined forces to defy the Tamil Nadu attack. They added 64 runs for the eighth wicket before vivaan was caught by Kabilan off Chetan Kumar for a quickfire 46 off 45 balls. He struck five fours and four sixes.

After Vivaan fell, Raghav and Mohammed Kamran added 26 before Raghav fell leg before to Harichandran for 38 which came off 107 balls and contained five fours.

Kamran was the last man to fall for a 34-ball 40 which contained five fours and two sixes as Hyderabad were bowled out for 249.

Harichandran took four for 48 and Niyaal Lalik bagged three for 36 for Tamil Nadu.
