“I’ve made the DMV my home and the Spirit my family, and I knew this was where I wanted to enter the next chapter of my career,” Rodman said in a statement. “We’re chasing championships and raising the standard, and I can’t wait to keep doing that with my teammates and the best fans in the NWSL.”
Rodman became the youngest draft pick in National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) history when she was selected second overall in 2021 at just 18. She earned NWSL Rookie of the Year honors that same season and helped the Spirit win their first league title.

Her new contract is more than a financial milestone. It signals a shift in women’s football as leagues work to retain top global talent.
