Greyhounds hunt down All Star KVBR 64-8 in opening game of GM Sampath basketball

Greyhounds, as expected, proved quite a handful for All Star KVBR on way to a thumping 64-8 win in the opening game of the GM Sampath Kumar Annual League Basketball Championship at YMCA Secunderabad on Thursday.

The Level-III match actually never rose to any great heights as Greyhounds were at the dominant best. All Star KVBR were left to count the stars in the sky as they had not answer to the marauding Greyhounds hoopsters.

The experienced Greyhounds meant business from the start and were in no mood to show any mercy to their rivals. Kiriti dominated through drive-ins starting with a hat-trick of baskets, thereafter Kundan joined the scoring spree as they piled on 19 points with All Star KVBR managing just 2 points in the first quarter.

Things were no different in the second quarter as Harsha, Aditya and Kamal kept the scoreboard ticking. Greyhounds scored 17 points against the two got by All Star KVBR.

Greyhounds took a handy 36-4 lead at the break. Abhi scored all the four points for All Star. After change of ends, Greyhound upped the ante and went into an overdrive which fetched them 28 points in the next two quarters. All Star could manage another four points as they cut a sorry figure.

Result: Greyhounds 64 (Kiriti 19, Kundan 9, Kamal 8, Komal 8, Harsha 7) beat All Star KVBR 8 (Abhi 4, Jonathan 2, Allen2) Half Time: 36-4.
