Sravan bowls Telangana to 25-run win, Hyderabad thrash Bangalore

Goteti Sravan’s deadly spell helped Telangana score a comfortable 25-run victory over Bihar in the 19th Shri Rajiv Gandhi National T20 Cricket Championship at the Vijayanand Grounds in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Batting first, Telangana scored 107 for seven with Ahmed Hussain making a topscore of 30. Vickey Anand took four for 11 for Bihar, who faltered in their reply. They were bowled out for 83 with Sravan bagging five for eight.

In another match, Hyderabad scored a thumping nine-wicket win over Bangalore. Batting first, Bangalore were skittled out for a lowly 51 with Rahul Kartikey scalping four for 20 and Pranesh A bagging three for 11. Hyderabad replied with 52 for one in three overs.

Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by former India captain Mohd Azharuddin, who is also a minister in the Telangana government. PCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud was also present.

Twelve teams, including Sri Lanka and two girls’ teams, are taking part in the tournament, said Srikanth Goud, organizing secretary of the tournament. The final will be held on January 10 at the LB Stadium in Hyderabad with Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy being the chief guest. He will also give away the prizes.

Brief scores: Bangalore 51 11.5 overs (Rahul Kartikey 4/20, Pranesh A 3/11) lost to Hyderabad 52/1 in 3 overs. Telangana 107/7 in 15 overs (Ahmed Hussain 30, Aabhijay 22; Saras Kashyap 2/12, Vickey Anand 4/11) beat Bihar 82 in 13.4 overs (Manjit 23; Sravan 5/8).

Harshavardhan and Srikar shine in Nizamabad win

Harshavardhan Singh and Y Srikar Reddy scored half-centuries to power Nizamabad to a thumping nine-wicket victory over Adilabad in the Kaka Venkataswamy Memorial Telangana Inter-District T20 League Phase ll.

Electing to bat, Adilabad were restricted to 141 for nine despite G Sai Krishna Reddy scoring 44 not out. Ved Hari took three for 19. Nizamabad replied with 143 for one with Harshavardhan remaining not out on 70 and Y Srikar Reddy scoring 62.

In another match, Ranga Reddy scored a three-wicket victory over Karimnagar. After restricting Karimnagar to 146 for five, Ranga Reddy made 147 for seven.

Prraneeth bags title at Roquetas Chess Festival in Spain

Telangana GM Prraneeth Vuppala bagged another international title by winning the Roquetas Chess Festival in Spain. Prraneeth registered seven wins and a draw to take the title with 7.5 points to his credit. Marin Peragant from Spain and Cukorowsky Filip from Poland finished second and third respectively.

The Future Kids emerge champs in U-11 Inter-school basketball

The Future Kids scored a comfortable 10-4 win over Indus International in the finals of the Phoenix Green Under-11 Girls Inter-school Basketball Championship at Phoenix Green School in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. Anshi scored 8 points to steer her side to a resounding victory.

In the semifinals, The Future Kids defeated Chirec School 16-8 and Indus International blanked Sadhana School 13-0.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday unveiled the poster for the second edition of the CM Cup 2025. Minister Vakiti Srihari, SATS chairman Shiv Sena Reddy, special CS Jayesh Ranjan, CM principal secretary Srinivas Raju and SATG MD Sony Bala were present on the occasion.

The competitions will be held from January 17 to 22 at the village level, January 28 to 31 at the mandal level, February 3 to 7 at the constituency level, February 10 to 14 at the district level, and February 19 to 26 at the state level. SATG will be conducting competitions in a total of 44 different sports.
