Shubham Dey and Adhira Chetan missed out on a golden double on the second day of the 6th Gujarati Seva Mandal Telangana state ranking table tennis tournament -2026 at their premises in Hyderabad on Thursday.
Shubham Dey of AVSC defeated Jatin Jairam of SGUTTA in the Under-11 boys’ singles final 3-1. Shubham was in top form as he took the first game with ease at 11-3 but found Jatin a tough nut to crack in the second one. Shubham managed to win the second game at 11-8 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

However, Jatin hit back strongly in the third game to win it 11-6 and stretch the match. But Shubham was in no mood to let the advantage go as he took the fourth game at 11-5 and the title as well.
Shubham, however, did not find the same luck in the Under-13 boys’ singles final. Shubham suffered a 1-3 loss to Srisai Shiva Advik of SGUTTA. Advik began soundly as he won the first game 11-7 but Shubham responded well as he won the second one at 11-7 but Advik tightened his game and took the next two games at 11-5 and 11-4 to take home the crown.

It was a similar story for Adhira Chetan of HVA as she won the Under-11 girls’ singles title but failed to win the Under-13 girls’ final.
Adhira managed to edge Riya Shaik of SGUTTA 3-2 in a thrilling Under-11 final. Adhira started off the blocks in right earnest as she won the first game 11-8. However, Riya pulled up her socks to take the second game at 11-9 and then stun Adhira by winning the third game 11-5. With a 2-1 lead, Riya looked all set for the title. However, Adhira had other ideas. She rallied superbly to win the next two games at 11-3, 11-8 and take the title.
In the Under-13 final, Adhira was soundly beaten by Yashasree Sil of SGUTTA 3-0. Yashasree booked no challenge as he romped to a comfortable 11-7, 11-6, 11-9 victory.
