162 golfers vie for honours at the 3-day 16th DGC Junior/Sub-Junior golf tournament

The 16th DGC Junior/Sub-Junior Golf Tournament 2026, presented by USHA, began on Tuesday at the Delhi Golf Club. The tee-off was done by DGC president Raj Khosla who did the ceremonial tee off. 162 golfers, aged between 7 and 21 years, are participating in this prestigious three-day tournament played on both the Lodhi and Peacock Courses. Usha’s longstanding association with the Delhi Golf Club underpins its commitment to the inclusive growth and development of the sport in India.

A true test of skill, focus, and determination, this tournament will see some of India’s most promising young golfers in action, including (to add additional information for specific high achieving players). Staying true to its ethos, the Delhi Golf Club in association with Usha has waived entry fees for 32 underprivileged players, providing additional services including coaching, on-the-course practice and caddies for the participants.

Out of the 162 participants, two were deaf and dumb and are aiming to be part of the Para Olympics.

Commenting on the event, an Usha spokesperson said: “This tournament has evolved over the years to become more than just a competitive sporting event – it has become a celebration of inclusivity and breaking barriers to accessing a game like golf for talent across diverse backgrounds. These align to the values that define the spirit of golf and our ethos at Usha and the ever-increasing participation of players from diverse backgrounds is extremely heartening and Usha is delighted to be part of this journey.”

Sonaal Chaudhri, lady captain at DGC said: “The enthusiasm, discipline, and perseverance demonstrated by these young golfers are truly inspiring. It is particularly heartening to see so many youngsters from various socio-economic backgrounds coming together and bonding over a common passion, underscoring the growing inclusivity of the sport. We are proud to have Usha onboard to support an initiative that nurtures talent, and empowers the next generation of golfers to realise their full potential.”
