Telangana’s Hruthik Katakam completed a grand double by winning the singles as well as the doubles titles at the ITF Juniors J60 Gurugram.
In the singles’ final, fourth seed Hruthik defeated third seed Dev Vipul Patel 7-6(8), 6-0. The first set was a closely fought encounter with both players putting up their best show. However, Hruthik prevailed 7-6(8) to surge ahead. In the second set, Patel threw in the towel and conceded it 6-0.
In the semifinals, Hruthik pulled up the biggest upset of the tournament when he got the better of top seed Tavish Pahwa. Hruthik won 7-5, 6-2.
In the doubles’ final, Hruthik and Prakaash Sarran, the third seeds, defeated second seeds Dev Vipul Patel and Om Patel 7-5,6-4
In the quarterfinals, the Telangana lad defeated seventh seed Vivaan Bidasaria 6-3, 6-3. In the Round of 16, Hruthik defeated 14th seed Arush Kote of the USA 6-3, 6-2.
In the earlier round, Hruthik blanked Harsh Marwaha 6-0, 6-0.
