Gurunath Dame had a dream run in the 30+ category at the Bharat Science MT-200 Hyderabad 2026, ITF World Masters Tour Seniors Ranking Tennis Tournament, which was held at GBR Club in Suchitra, Hyderabad.
Gurunath scored a grand double as he won the men’s singles title as well as the doubles title in the company of Jayanarayan.
Gurunath downs Sai Kiran in singles final
In the men’s singles final, Gurunath took on Sai Kiran in what turned out to be a well-fought match. Gurunath won the tie 6-3, 6-3. Both players dished out an exhilarating performance but Gurunath was able to keep his head above his rival in both the sets.
In the semifinals, Gurunath brooked no challenge as he toyed with Samar Khan in a straight sets victory. Gurunath won the first set 6-2 and then had an even easier time in the second set as he won 6-1.
On the other hand, Sai Kiran had a fight on his had as Amruth gave him a scare in the first set. Sai Kiran won 6-4, 6-1.

Gurunath and Jayanarayan win doubles title
In the men’s doubles final, Gurunath and Jayanarayan had to wage a grim battle before they prevailed over a fighting Gourabdin and Samar in a thriller. Gurunath and Jayanarayan lost the first set 3-6 but managed to pull up their socks in the second set. They stunned their rivals as they won 6-3 and took the game to the tiebreaker.
The tiebreaker was no less thrilling as both teams fought tooth-and-nail for supremacy. However, Gurunath and Jayanarayan prevailed 10-8 to steal the honours from their opponents.
Doubles semis were equally engrossing
The doubles semifinals were equally engrossing as Gurunath and Jayanarayan had to play out of their skins to get past Sai and Srikanth. After losing the first set at 3-6, Gurunath and Jayanarayan came to the party and took the second set 6-3. In the tiebreaker, the duo prevailed 10-8.
In the other semifinal, Gourabdin and Samar also had a tough encounter against Nishanth and Amruth. The first set was a close affair as both sides went at each other. Gourabdin and Samar prevailed 7-6 (7/4). The second set proved to an easy one for the duo as the romped home 6-2.
