Andhra completed a comprehensive innings and 131-run victory over Tripura with a day to spare in their Col CK Nayudu Trophy match at the DVR ground in Mulapadu, near Vijayawada, on Sunday.

The third day was a contrast to the previous days as only 12 wickets had fallen on the first two days but on Sunday 18 wickets tumbled down as the Tripura batters put up a shoddy show.

Resuming at their overnight score of 197 for two with Saptajit Das on 94 and Parvez Sultan on 6, Tripura lost Das after he made 103 off 118 balls with 10 fours and four sixes. He was caught by SDNV Prasad off G Sumith.

Thereafter, Tripura lost their way as wickets fell at regular intervals. Skipper Sandip Sarkar made 30 and Tanmoy Das 38 as Tripura were bowled out for 286, in reply to Andhra’s first innings score of 569. G Sumith took five for 77 for Andhra.

Still 283 runs in arrears, Tripura were asked to bat again. This time, they fared even worse and were bowled out for 152 in 33.1 overs.

Barring Tanmoy Das, who made 33 off 43 balls with five fours, none of the top five batters stayed long. First innings centurion Saptajit Das was caught and bowled by CH Yochan for 5.

No.6 batter Priansh Mitra made a topscore of 51 off 52 balls with seven fours and Sarkar again scored a 28-ball 27 with three fours and six but it was too little as Andhra cruised home with much to spare.

M Deepak took three for 47 and TA Hemanth Kumar bagged four for 46.

Brief scores: Andhra 569 beat Tripura 286 in 74.4 overs (Tanmoy Das 38, Saptajit Das 103, Sahil Sultan 55, Sandip Sarkar 30; G Sumith 5/77) and 152 in 33.1 overs (Tanmoy Das 33, Priansh Mitra 51, Sandip Sarkar 27; TA Hemanth Kumar 4/46, M Deepak 3/47).
