CBIT scored a comfortable 3-1 win over Mahindra University in the table tennis team event final of the Mahindra University Annual Sports Fest 2026 at their campus in Hyderabad on Sunday.
Sachin began CBIT’s conquest by conquering Sadvik 3-1 to set the tone for the final. Pratham Dev then defeated Rohit in a closely fought encounter. Pratham prevailed 3-2 to give CBIT a 2-0 lead.
However, Mahindra University hit back by winning the doubles event as Rohit and Akshay defeated Pratham Dev and Prathik 3-1. But CBIT were not to be denied their share of glory as Pratham Dev returned to win his reverse singles against Sadvik 3-0 and clinch the issue for his team.
In the semifinals, CBIT walked over Methodist 3-1. Prathik was gifted the first singles game as his Methodist opponent failed to turn up for the match. In the second singles, Sachin went down to Trishul 1-3 as Methodist level the tie 1-1.
Pratham Dev and Sachin defeated Trishul and Najeev 3-2 to make it 2-1 and Prathik got another walk-over to end the contest at 3-1.
In the quarterfinal, CBIT defeated BITS 3-1. Pratham Dev won both his singles matches but lost the doubles with Prathik. However, Sachin defeated Arman 3-0 as CBIT had no problems in cruising along.
Results: Team Event (final): CBIT beat Mahindra University 3-1 (Sachin beat Sadvik 3-1; Pratham Dev beat Rohit 3-2; Pratham Dev & Prathik lost to Rohit & Akshay 1-3; Pratham Dev beat Sadvik 3-0).
Semifinal: CBIT beat Methodist 3-1 (Prathik W/O; Sachin lost to Trishul 3-1; Pratham Dev & Sachin beat Trishul & Najeeb 3-2; Prathik W/O).
Quarterfinal: CBIT beat BITS 3-1 (Pratham Dev beat Eshan 3-2; Sachin beat Arman 3-0; Prathik & Pratham lost to Pream & Eshan 1-3; Pratham beat Arman 3-1).
