The 6th EA Samuel Vasanth Kumar Memorial Basketball Tournament for men will be held at the YMCA Secunderabad from Tuesday (February 10).
The inaugural match will be between YMCA Hyderabad and Devaraj at 5 pm. The second match of the day will be between Keystone Basketball Association and Young Men’s Guild. Last time’s runners-up YMCA Secunderabad will round off the day’s engagement with a clash against SSBA, Tarnaka.
In all 16 teams are taking part in the tournament, which is being conducted by Sports Writers Association of Telangana (SWAT) and Khel Khiladis.com under the technical guidance of The Hyderabad District Basketball Association.
The matches will be played on knock-out and semi-final League basis.

Chartered Accountant G Giridhar, proprietor of Giridhar & Co. will be the chief guest for the inaugural ceremony.
Secunderabad YMCA have been impressive in the tournament. They had finished runners-up to Customs & GST in 2018 at the VPG. In 2020, they again ended up runners-up as they were beaten by South Central Railway in the final.

Secunderabad YMCA, however, had their moment of glory when they defeated South Central Railway in 2021 to win the third edition of the tournament. They then went on to make it back-to-back titles as they defeated G9 in the final in 2023.
In 2024, the fifth edition of the tournament, South Central Railway prevented a hattrick of titles for Secunderabad YMCA. The SCR team steamrolled past their opponents to win their second title in the tournament.
