Shivani Goud scored an unbeaten 91 to help Osmania University score a 66-run win over Jepher University in the South Zone Women’s Cricket Tournament at the KSR Institute of Technology. This was Osmania University’s third straight win in the tournament.
Osmania University won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 138 for four in their 20 overs with Shivani Goud getting 91 of those runs off just 72 balls with 11 fours. Lehar was the next best as she scored 16 off 16 balls. For Jepher University, Ashwini, Deepika, Abhirami and Pavitra Vijay took a wicket each.
In reply, Jepher were bowled out for 72 with Akshara making 17. Padmasree and Naveena took three wickets apiece for Osmania University, while Hansika and Krishna Priya bagged two wickets each.
Osmania University will meet University of Calicut in the quarterfinals on Friday.
Earlier in the day, Osmania University defeated Sri Krishna Devaraya University by nine wickets.
Batting first, Sri Krishna Devaraya University scored 113 for six in their stipulated 20 overs. Mahitha topscored with an unbeaten 48 which came off 50 balls and contained four boundaries. Swathi made a 29-ball 29 with two boundaries.
For Osmania University, Naveena took two for 8 and Sannidhi claimed one for 19.
In reply, openers Hamshika and Shivani Goud flayed the rival bowlers as they scored 67 for the first wicket. Shivani made 41 off 25 balls with four fours and a six, while Hamshika remained unbeaten on 35 with two fours and Anjali scored an unbeaten 21 with two fours.
Osmania University reached 114 for one in 12.5 overs.
