India won three of the five titles on offer with Manav Thakkar bagging two of them at the WTT Feeder Chennai 2026, which concluded on Sunday at the Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University.

Thakkar won the men’s singles title and partnered Taneesha Kotecha to clinch the mixed doubles crown, while Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Harmeet Desai combined for the men’s doubles honours.

In the men’s singles final, top seed Manav Thakkar rallied from two games down to beat England’s Olympian Sam Walker 3-2 (6-11, 8-11, 11-9, 11-3, 11-8).

Thakkar began his campaign with a 3-1 win over the Republic of Korea’s Lee Jungmok before sweeping aside Denmark’s Ibrahima Diaw 3-0 in the round of 16. He then defeated compatriot Harmeet Desai 3-1 in the quarterfinals before producing another comeback to overcome third seed G Sathiyan 3-2 in the semifinals.

Manav and Taneesha win mixed doubles title

In the mixed doubles, Thakkar and Kotecha defeated compatriots Mehan Senthil and Ananya Muralidharan 3-2 (15-17, 11-6, 11-7, 10-12, 11-6) in the final.

The Indian pair opened with a 3-0 victory over Rupam Sardar and Subhankrita Datta in the round of 16, before upsetting top seeds Akash Pal and Sutirtha Mukherjee 3-1 in the quarterfinals. They followed that up with a 3-1 win over third seeds Payas Jain and Sayali Wani in the semifinals to reach the title clash.

Sathiyan and Harmeet win men’s doubles crown

Meanwhile, second seeds and Olympians Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Harmeet Desai won the men’s doubles title with a 3-1 (11-6, 8-11, 11-7, 11-8) victory over fourth seeds Payas Jain and Priyanuj Bhattacharyya in an all-Indian final.

Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Harmeet Desai started their campaign with a 3-1 win over wildcards Sudhanshu Maini and Kumar Harshit before edging past qualifiers Sridhar Joshi and Rahul Malik 3-2 in the quarter-finals. They then recovered from a two-game deficit to beat third seeds Sanil Shetty and Snehit Suravajjula 3-2 in the semifinals.

The Chennai triumph added to the duo’s history of success together. They won their first major international title as a pair at the WTT Contender Tunis in 2021.

Gnanasekaran and Desai were also members of India’s gold medal-winning men’s table tennis teams at the 2018 and 2022 Commonwealth Games, as well as the bronze medal-winning squad at the 2018 Asian Games.

South Korea claimed the other two table tennis titles in Chennai. Seoyun Kim and Yein Jeong defeated compatriots Haelin Lee and Gyurin Kim 3-0 in the women’s doubles final, while Yerin Yoo beat India’s Sutirtha Mukherjee by the same scoreline to win the women’s singles crown.
