125 INF Battalion battle past fighting KVBR 78-53, Mamata Medical College down Titans B

125 INF Battalion scored a hard fought 78-53 win over KVBR, while Mamata Medical College eased past Titans ‘B’ 77-39 in the GM Sampath Kumar Annual League Basketball Championship 2026-27 at YMCA Secunderabad on Saturday.

Though, INF Battalion posted a 78-53 win, the scoreline does not really reflect the struggle the army men had to go through to take full points from the game. KVBR hoopsters made INF Battalion toil hard for every point.

The army outfit began well with a fast-paced game as Prasad, Akram and Clifton combined superbly to score 24 points. KVBR were not to be undone as they too scored 18 points through the efforts of Pandu and Amshul. This included two 3-pointers from Pandu.

In the second quarter, the army outfit continued in the same vein scoring 26 points and with a tight defense restricted KVBR to just 9 points as 125 INF Battalion led 50-27 at half-time.

After the lemon break, both teams focused more on defense and, therefore, fewer baskets were scored in the second half. In the low-scoring third quarter, 125 INF Battalion and KVBR scored 16 & 9 points respectively.

In the final quarter KVBR upped their game and outscored the army outfit with 17 points against 12 scored by 125 INF Battalion. Havishram did the most damage for KVBR and Koushik scored two 3-pointers but the lead was massive and KVBR failed to bridge the gap. 125 INF Battalion prevailed 78-53 in the end.

In another match Mamata Medical College eased past Titans ‘B’ 77-39. The medical college students led 39-14 at half-time.

Results: 125 INF Battalion 78 (Prasad 23, Cliffton 16, Akram 14) beat KVBR 53 (Pandu 17, Amshul 15, Koushik 8) Half Time: 50-27.

Mamata Medical College 77 (Aakash 20, Sai 12) beat Titans ‘B’ 39 (Rithvik 14, Jaydev 9) Half Time: 39-14.
