Yashwanth and Manogna emerged the fastest in the Under-20 junior men and women categories of the Hyderabad District Junior Athletic Championship at the Gymkhana Grounds in Secunderabad.
Yashwanth made it a golden double by winning the 100 metres and 200 metres races. In the 100m, Yashwant finished the race in 11.3 seconds. He was followed by Harshavardhan and M Karthikeya.
In the 200m, Yashwanth breasted the tape in 22.8 seconds. M Venkatesh came in second and Karthikeya took the bronze.
Manogna won the 100 metres race in 15.65 seconds and was followed by Sharyana. Manogna also bagged a bronze in the 400 metres race, which was won by Sahithi in 1:08.2 seconds. Joshna took home the silver medal.
Geethika bags two gold, Akshaya wins three medals, including a gold
In the Under-18 girls’ category, Geethika claimed two gold medals. She won the discus event by clearing 18.95 metres. She was followed by Amtul and Akshaya.
Geethika also won the shotput event by clearing 7.30 metres. Akshaya took the silver and Hansini the bronze.
In the Under-18 girls’ sprints, Akshaya bagged a gold, a silver and a bronze. Akshaya won the gold medal in the 200 metres race. She won it in 28.1 seconds. K Akshitha was second and B Swathi third.
In the 100m race, Akshaya came in second behind Shreshta, who won the race in 13.4 seconds. Janaksha Sanju was third.
In the 400m race, Akshaya finished third behind Akshitha, who won the race in 1:16.1 seconds, and Yashshwini.
