Wafi smashes double ton; Tarun, Hrishikesh, Aryan, Ajay, Jasrith, Ashish & Vidyanand shine

Wafi Kachchhi smashed a double century, and Tarun Rajan helped himself to a century to put Union Bank of India (UBI) in the driver’s seat against Charminar on the first day of their seventh-round match in the HCA A Division (2-day) League Championship in Hyderabad on Thursday.

UBI lost opener Ronald Rodrigues (0) with nothing on the board. However, Naveen Reddy (49) and Wafi steadied the innings with a 101-run partnership off 149 balls before Naveen was run out by Karan Yadav.

Nithin Nayak (1) too fell without much ado but Tarun Rajan joined Wafi and the duo sent the Charminar bowlers on a leather hunt. The duo were at their aggressive best as they brooked no challenge.

They added 299 off 314 balls for the fourth wicket to help UBI gain the upper hand. Tarun made 148 off 149 balls with 11 fours and nine sixes.

UBI lost their way thereafter, but Wafi went on to make an unbeaten 218 off 263 balls with 26 fours and two sixes as UBI ran up 461 for seven in their 90 overs.

Hrishikesh Simha

Hrishikesh Simha, who has been in good form this season, struck a century to help Balaaji reach 365 for nine against AOC. Hrishikesh made 111 off 150 balls with seven fours and two sixes.

Aryan Krishna and Ajay Dev Goud smashed centuries to help Imperial reach a massive score against Gemini Friends.

Imperial reached 428 for six thanks to Aryan’s unbeaten 171 off 222 balls with 13 fours and two sixes and Ajay Dev Goud’s 117-balls 123 with 12 fours and five sixes.

E Vidyanand Reddy took five for 11 to bowl out State Bank of India (SBI) for a lowly 151. However, the bankers struck back with a vengeance and reduced Hyderabad Bottling to 98 for six.

Jasrith Reddy struck a century to prop up Combined District-2 total against Deccan Wanderers. Jasrith made 117 off 184 balls with 13 fours and three sixes, while T Harshwardhan Singh fell for 92.

Ashish Srivastav bagged eight for 66 for Deccan Wanderers, who were strongly placed at 120 for no loss at stumps.

Cambridge XI scored an eight-wicket win over R Dayanand. Batting first, Dayanand were bowled out for 111 with Rahul Buddhi taking three for four and Ammaar Ayub getting three for 32. Cambridge XI replied with 115 for two.

Sai Vikas Reddy missed out on a century as Evergreen reached 352 for nine against Budding Star. Sai Vikas was out for 94.
