Vivaan Kapoor and Neeru Dhanda bagged the mixed team trap bronze as India finished with one medal at the ISSF Shotgun World Cup 2026 in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on Sunday.
In the four-team medal round, the Indian shooters scored 24/30 to finish third. Kun-Pi Yang and Wan-Yu Liu of Chinese Taipei shot a world record of 36/40 for the gold medal while the Italian duo Mauro De Filippis and Silvana Maria Stanco (33) bagged silver.
Vivaan Kapoor and Neeru Dhanda were tied with the Italians after the third series but were knocked out since they scored less than De Fulippis and Stanco in the qualifiers.
Earlier, Vivaan Kapoor and Neeru Dhanda had shot 143 to finish second in the qualifying round behind the Italian team, who scored two more. The other Indian team of Ahvar Rizvi and Pragati Dubey finished 23rd with a score of 130 and did not qualify for the final.
This was the first ISSF World Cup medal for Neeru Dhanda, the 2025 women’s trap Asian champion. For Vivaan, it was his fourth World Cup medal but the first since 2022.
None of the Indian shooters, including Olympians Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmed Khan and Raiza Dhillon, managed to qualify for the finals of the individual skeet events. Men’s trap contestants also failed to progress to the medal round.
Neeru made the individual women’s trap medal round but had to settle for a seventh-place finish amongst eight finalists.
The Almaty shooting meet was the second of four ISSF Shotgun World Cups this year and featured 284 shooters from 42 National Olympic Committees.
Indian shooters had returned empty-handed from the first leg in Tangier, Morocco. The next one is scheduled in Lonato, Italy, in July.
