Vasavi College of Engineering won the Osmania Universtiy Inter College Chess Championships, organized by Vivekananda Govt. Degree College, Vidyanagar, on Tuesday. Vasavi College of Engineering finished with 15.5 points to claim the first position.
Dr BR Ambedkar College came in second with 14.5 points and CBIT claimed the third spot with 14 points, while Bhavans Vivekananda were fourth with 13.5 points to their credit.
The competition was organized in the round robin league format.
Prof Bala Bhaskar, joint director, Collegiate Education, was the Chief Guest and distributed the prizes. Dr K Prabhu, principal, Vivekananda Govt. Deg College, Vidyanagar, welcomed the guests. Prof Rajesh Kumar, dean, Faculty of Education, Prof K Deepla, director, DPE, Prof S Jagan Mohan, organizing secretary, were also present at the closing function.
Finals standings: 1. Vasavi College of Engineering 15.5 points (Varshith, Sainath, Sharath, Shyam and Sai Vardhan played well for Vasavi).
2. Dr B R Ambedkar College 14.5 points (Akshay Kumar, Nelson, Nikhil, Manish Kumar, Kumar Raj Thota played well).
3. C B I T 14 points (Sai Teja, Pavan Mohith, Vishal, Abdul Faatih Siddique, Sashreek Kumar played well).
4. Bhavans Vivekananda 13.5 points (Rohith, Rohith Yadav, Sai Sharan, Hrishit and Rahul Yadav played well).
