Top seed Sarayu Suryaneni of Hyderabad had to wage a grim battle before overcoming fourth seed Praanjala Nisarga of Ranga Reddy in the girls’ singles semifinals of the Yonex Sunrise 12th Telangana State Junior (Under-19) Badminton Championship in Hyderabad on Saturday.
Sarayu came from a game behind to oust Praanjala in a tough encounter. Praanjala was quickly off the blocks and took her fancied opponent by surprise. Praanjala won the first game 15-11 but lost steam thereafter as Sarayu staged a comeback.
Sarayu took the second game 15-8 as she reeled off winners at ease and wrapped up the match by winning the decider 15-6 to book her final berth against unseeded player Avni Vikram Govind
Avni of Ranga Reddy stunned third seed Hamsini Chadaram of Medchal in straight games to make it to the final. Avni was too good for her rival as he won 15-11, 15-5.
In the girls’ doubles, Anusanjana Murali and Gade Stuthi Grace will meet Aaradhya Reddy Hanumaiah Gari and Akshaya Chowdary Aluru in the final.

In the boys’ singles semifinals, top seed Akhil Reddy Bobba continued with his smooth sailing as he disposed off Sri Adithya Harshavardhan of Mancherial with a 15-10, 15-10 verdict.
In the final, Akhil will meet fourth seed Shashank Vanamala of Nalgonda, who defeated Sai Nachiketh Batraju of SRD 15-12, 15-6.
