Telangana’s Shrenik wins silver at 2026 Asia-Pacific African Powerlifting Championship

Telangana powerlifter Marupaka Shrenik clinched the overall silver medal in the 74kg Open (Senior) category at the Asia-Pacific African Sub-Junior, Junior, Open & Masters Powerlifting Championship 2026 in Potchefstroom, South Africa.

Hyderabad’s Marupaka Shrenik lifted a total weight of 565 kg, securing his place on the international stage amidst top-tier powerlifters from various participating countries.

This remarkable achievement is the result of years of hard work, disciplined training, and perseverance. Shrenik expressed his gratitude to his coach Thiruveedhula Kaushik, his family members, the management of Dr B R Ambedkar College, and his well-wishers for playing a pivotal role in this success.

“Representing India on an international stage has long been my dream. Winning the silver medal is a matter of pride. However, this achievement motivates me to work even harder to secure a gold medal in the future. I dedicate this victory to my family, my coach, and everyone who has supported me throughout my journey,” Shrenik said.
