Telangana Sports Knowledge on Wheels initiative, launched by the Sports Authority of Telangana (SATG) to strengthen the state’s sporting ecosystem by taking quality sports education to the grassroots, received an overwhelming response as it was successfully conducted across several district headquarters on Friday.

The programme, inaugurated at the Gachibowli Stadium by the chief minister A Revanth Reddy in the presence of Indian Olympic Association president Dr P T Usha, entered its district-level outreach phase on Friday with active participation from Physical Education Teachers (PETs), Physical Directors (PDs), senior sports persons and other stakeholders from across the respective districts.

The unique initiative aims to take scientific sports knowledge, expert guidance and practical training to every village, mandal and district in Telangana, thereby promoting a strong sports culture and improving coaching standards across the state.

Each mobile outreach team comprises three coaches, a physiotherapist, three senior sports persons and a special officer. The teams are conducting interactive sessions on scientific training methods, practical skill development and athlete support systems.

The programme covers key areas including basic sports skills and techniques, injury prevention, rehabilitation and recovery, hydration and sports nutrition, stress management and athletes’ mental well-being.

SATG MD Dr A Sonibala Devi said the initiative is designed to strengthen grassroots sports by enhancing coaching quality, promoting scientific training practices and identifying and nurturing talented athletes from every district of Telangana.

The district-level programmes witnessed encouraging participation and positive feedback from the sporting community. Participants appreciated the government’s effort to bring expert sports knowledge and modern coaching practices closer to rural and remote areas, making quality sports education more accessible.

Telangana Sports Knowledge on Wheels campaign will continue in the remaining districts on July 11 (Saturday) and July 12 (Sunday). Senior officials of the Sports Authority of Telangana are continuously coordinating and monitoring the programme from Hyderabad to ensure its smooth implementation across the state.
