Telangana rowers emerge overall champions in Sub-Junior category at ASMITA Rowing

Telangana women rowers delivered an outstanding performance by winning multiple medals at the ASMITA Women’s League Rowing Championship in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, from May 12 to 16, 2026.

The Telangana team emerged as the overall champions in the Sub-Junior category, showcasing remarkable talent and dominance in the competition. In the Under-15 girls pair event, the duo of K Lavanya and S Devendramma won the gold medal. In the Under-15 girls’ double sculls event, A Varshita and Ch Dhatri secured the bronze medal.

In the Under-15 girls’ Four event, the team comprising M Nithya, Niharika, Umamaheshwari, and R Taruni clinched the silver medal.

In the lightweight women’s double sculls event, Manusha and Diksha won the silver medal and in the women’s pair event, Sangeeta and Naina bagged the gold medal.

In the Under-19 women’s double sculls event, Roshibina Devi and Swevia Haisnam secured the gold medal.

With these impressive performances, Telangana won the Under-15 overall championship and earned special recognition as the ‘Hyderabad Queens’. The state also secured the prestigious Sub-Junior Overall Championship Trophy.

The closing ceremony of the championship was attended by Gorakhpur MP and noted actor Ravi Kishan, who presented the medals to the winners.

Telangana sports minister Vakiti Srihari, state government sports advisor A P Jithender Reddy, Sports Authority of Telangana chairman Shiv Sena Reddy, MD Dr Sonibala Devi, and Telangana Rowing Association president A P Mithun Reddy congratulated the medal-winning rowers for bringing pride and recognition to Telangana at the national level.

Special appreciation was also extended to association secretary and Dronacharya Awardee Ismail Baig for his contribution to the team’s success.

Results: Under-15 girls pair: K Lavanya and S Devendramma (gold).

Under-15 girls double scull: A Varshitha and Ch Dhatri (bronze).

Under-15 girls four: M Nithya, Niharika, Umamaheshwari and R Tharuni (silver).

Light weight women double scull: Manusha and Deeksha (silver).

Women pair: Sangeeta and Naina (gold).

Under-19 women double scull: Roshibina Devi and Swevia Heisnam (gold).
