Telangana rowers bag seven medals to finish runners-up in the Under-15 category

Telangana rowers finished runners-up in the Under-15 category at the 1st All India Indoor Rowing Championship in Cuttack, Odisha, from April 8 to 11. Telangana won an impressive seven medals, two gold, three silver and two bronze medals.

The women’s pair of A Varshitha, Ch Dhatri, K Lavanya and S Devendramma won the gold medal.

The other gold medal for the state was won by Gursweak Singh in the Under-23 men’s single scull event.

M Yeshwant and V Sai Teja bagged two silver medals each. The duo first won a silver in the Under-15 men’s pair and then teamed up with R Lalu and V Kiran to bag a silver in the Under-15 men’s relay.

Deeksha bagged the third silver for Telangana when she finished runners-up in the Under-25 Lt women’s single.

The bronze medals were won by the Under-15 women’s pair A Varshita and Ch Dhatri. Raj Kumar too bagged a bronze in the open men’s scull event.

The rowers were from Telangana Sports School, Telangana Tribal Sports School, and Hyderabad.

Sports minister Vakiti Srihari, advisor to the state government A P Jithender Reddy, Sports Authority of Telangana chairman Shivsena Reddy, and managing director Dr A Soni Bala Devi congratulated the medal winners.

They praised the rowers for their outstanding achievements and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence, bringing further glory to both the state and the nation.

Winners: Gold: Under-15 women’s pair: A Varshita, Ch Dhatri, K Lavanya, S Devendramma.

U-23 men’s single scull: Gursweak Singh.

Silver: Under-15 men’s pair: M Yeshwanth, V Sai Teja.

Under-15 men’s relay: M Yeshwanth, V Sai Teja, R Lalu, V Kiran.

Under-23 Lt women’s single: Deeksha.

Bronze: Under-15 women’s pair: A Varshita, Ch Dhatri.

Open men’s single scull: Raj Kumar.
