Tamil Nadu men and Haryana women clinch team championship titles respectively

Tamil Nadu men battled past Haryana in a marathon final which lasted nearly four hours and 51 minutes to emerge victorious at the 78th Yonex Inter-State Badminton Team Championship 2025 in Vijayawada on Tuesday. Tamil Nadu defeated Haryana 3-2 in a pulsating battle.

The victory marks a proud moment for Tamil Nadu badminton, highlighting the state’s depth of talent and resilience under pressure. The final will be remembered as one of the most thrilling encounters in recent championship history.

The championship match kept spectators enthralled with dazzling rallies, tactical brilliance, and sheer determination from both sides, showcasing the very best of Indian badminton talent.

Tamil Nadu were richer by Rs 3.5 lakh and Haryana had to be content with Rs 2 lakh. Maharashtra and Uttarakhand took home Rs 1 lakh each.

Tamil Nadu men won the team championship at the 78th Yonex Inter-State Badminton Team Championship 2025 in Vijayawada on Tuesday. Haryana took the honours in the women’s section of the tournament. 

Haryana women accomplished what their men could not do. They won the women’s team championship ahead of Andhra Pradesh. Haryana women took home Rs 3.5 lakh and Andhra Pradesh got Rs 2 lakh. Gujarat took home Rs 1 lakh.

G Lakshmisa, district collector, NTR District, gave away the medals and trophies to the men’s teams.

M Dwarakanath, president, APBA, presented mementos and cash prizes to the winners.  Umar Rasheed, convenor, Tournament Committee, honoured the runners-up team Andhra Pradesh.  Mayur Parikh, secretary of Gujarat State Badminton Association, presented trophies, medals, and cash prizes to the 3rd and 4th place holders.

Team championship: Men: 1. Tamil Nadu, 2. Haryana, 3. Maharashtra, 4. Uttarakhand. Women: 1. Haryana, 2. Andhra Pradesh, 3. Gujarat.
