Former world No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth will look to lean on his vast top-level experience when he leads India’s challenge at the German Open 2026 badminton tournament, which begins on Tuesday at the Westenergie Sporthalle in Mülheim an der Ruhr. The German Open 2026 is a BWF Super 300 tournament.
Kidambi Srikanth, who is ranked 32nd in the men’s singles badminton rankings, will head into the German Open after two quarterfinal exits at the India Open and Indonesia Masters earlier this year.
He was last seen in action at the Badminton Asia Team Championships earlier this month, where he won both of his singles rubbers for India.
Kidambi Srikanth will be joined by compatriots Kiran George and Tharun Mannepalli in the men’s singles main draw. Olympian and world No. 5 Christo Popov of France is the top seed in the men’s singles and will meet Kiran George in the opening round.
World No. 40 Tanvi Sharma will lead India’s charge in the women’s singles in the absence of two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu.
Tanvi Sharma, who finished as runners-up in the BWF World Junior Championships and the US Open last year, will be accompanied by Tasnim Mir, Malvika Bansod, Rakshitha Ramraj and Isharani Baruah in the women’s singles main draw.
Ashwini Bhat and Shikha Gautam are the sole pair from India in the women’s doubles main draw. There are no Indians in the men’s and mixed doubles main draws at the German Open.
