Southern Command triumphed at the 3rd edition of the Corps of EME Sailing Regatta 2026 which was held at the Hussain Sagar in Hyderabad. Southern Command were adjudged winners of the overall championship trophy.
In the ILCA-6 category, Agniveer Patil Anuraj secured first place, followed by Sepoy Mahesh in second place & Agniveer Patil Siddhesh securing third place. In the ILCA-7 category, Agniveer Harsh Tiwari emerged victorious, with Lt Col Mayank Srivastav finishing second & Maj Lanka Kiran securing third place.
The closing ceremony, which was held on Tuesday, was presided over by Lt Gen Neeraj Varshney, commandant, Military College of Electronics & Mechanical Engineering (MCEME), colonel commandant, Corps of EME & Commodore, EME Sailing Association (EMESA).
Addressing the gathering, General Varshney highlighted origins of the regatta. He said it was conceived to revive & strengthen sailing as a competitive sport within the Corps of EME, while creating a broad base of skilled sailors capable of excelling at National, Asian & Olympic levels. He commended the enthusiastic participation of all ranks, particularly Agniveers, who demonstrated remarkable aptitude by mastering the sport within just 2–3 weeks.
While felicitating the winners, he further noted that the Regatta will serve as a stepping stone to major sailing events, including the ILCA Open Sailing Competition & Hyderabad Sailing Week.
