As part of the nationwide Fit India Sundays on Cycling initiative and in observance of World Bicycle Day, the Sports Authority of Telangana successfully organized a grand cycling rally at the Gachibowli Stadium on Sunday, receiving an overwhelming response from cycling enthusiasts across the city.
The rally was flagged off by the governor of Telangana, Shiv Pratap Shukla, who encouraged citizens to adopt cycling as a healthy lifestyle practice and lauded the efforts being made to promote fitness and sports culture in the state.
Addressing the gathering, governor Shukla stated that Telangana possesses immense sporting talent and appreciated the sports department for organizing various sports and fitness initiatives on a large scale to encourage participation among youth and the general public.
The cycling rally commenced from the practice ground near the main gate of Gachibowli Stadium and covered a route through IIIT Junction, Gachibowli Flyover, Pista House Junction, BITS, Cable Bridge, Madhapur, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Centre Road, and Biodiversity Road before returning to Gachibowli Stadium.
The event was attended by minister for information technology and industries D Sridhar Babu, sports minister Vakiti Srihari, sports advisor to the government of Telangana AP Jitender Reddy, special chief secretary Jayesh Ranjan, Sports Authority of Telangana chairman Shivasena Reddy, managing director Dr Sonibala Devi, Telangana Olympic Association secretary Malla Reddy, and several other dignitaries.
The event saw the active participation by cycling alongside the participants, motivating athletes and fitness enthusiasts. The event also witnessed the participation of senior officials, including Cyberabad police commissioner Ramesh Reddy, DCP (Serilingampally Zone) CH Srinivas, Narsingi ACP Kalinga Rao, Gachibowli Stadium administrator Kannam Madhu, deputy directors and coaches of the Sports Authority, representatives of various sports associations, cycling associations, young cyclists, and sports enthusiasts in large numbers.
To commemorate their participation, all cyclists were presented with certificates and mementos by the Sports Authority of Telangana.
The Sports Authority of Telangana reaffirmed its commitment to promoting fitness, healthy living, and active public participation in sports through initiatives such as Fit India Sundays on Cycling.
