Telangana’s promising young swimmer Shivani Karra won the gold medal in the girls’ 400 metres freestyle event at the 42nd Sub-Junior National Aquatic Championship, being conducted by the Rajasthan Swimming Association with the support of the Swimming Federation of India in Jaipur, Rajasthan, from August 6 to 9, 2026.
Shivani delivered an impressive performance in the 400m Freestyle, finishing first with a timing of 4:38.47 seconds, comfortably taking the top spot in a highly competitive national field.
Shivani was followed by Kerala’s Indraany M Memon, who completed the race in 4:40.18 seconds. Karnataka’s Idika Bhat took the third place with a 4:49.57 seconds’ finish.

On the first day of the championship, Shivani had finished second in the 200 metres backstroke event.
Shivani’s outstanding performance reflects her dedication, discipline and consistent training. Her victory is a proud moment for Telangana swimming and highlights the growing strength of the state’s young swimming talent.
Shivani Karra is a product of the swimming academy at the Gachibowli Stadium. Her achievement is a testament to the structured training and competitive environment provided at Gachibowli Stadium. She is trained by head coach Ayush Yadav.
