Telangana’s talented swimmers Shivani Karra and Vritti Agarwal were felicitated by Jayesh Ranjan, Telangana government’s special chief secretary, at his chamber in the Secretariat on Wednesday in recognition of their outstanding achievements in swimming.
Congratulating the athletes, Jayesh Ranjan expressed his delight that Shivani Karra has been selected to represent India at the 12th Asian Age Group Swimming Championships 2026, scheduled to be held in Bangkok. He also lauded Vritti Agarwal for her remarkable performance at the 79th Senior National Aquatic Championships 2026 held in Ahmedabad.
Vritti delivered an exceptional performance by winning a gold medal in the 400m freestyle, a silver medal in the 800m freestyle, and a bronze medal in the 1500m freestyle. She also created a new National Record in the 800m freestyle with a timing of 9:05.47, surpassing the 15-year-old national record set by Richa Mishra in 2011.
Dr Sonibala Devi, managing director of Sports Authority of Telangana, extended her heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to both Shivani Karra and Vritti Agarwal for bringing laurels to the state and representing India on the international stage.
The felicitation ceremony was attended by Umesh, secretary of the Telangana Swimming Association, coach Ayush Yadav, and other officials.

Dr A Sonibala Devi, MD, and G Ravinder, deputy director, Sports Authority of Telangana, felicitated Sriram, IHF Youth & Junior Trophy gold medalist, at the L B Stadium in Hyderabad.
