Shivam, Keerthana & Amee fall in quarters as Indian challenge ends at Asian Heyball Open

The Indian challenge ended in the quarterfinals of the Asian Heyball Open in Shah Alam, Malaysia, on Saturday.

While Shivam Arora went down 2-7 to Mongolia’s Lagnaidorj Delgerdalai, Keerthana Pandian and Amee Kamani lost to France’s Marion Jude (4-3 on time) and Waratthanun Sukritthanes of Thailand (6-1) in the women’s section.

The Asian Championships will get underway on Sunday.

Results (Indians unless mentioned): Asian Heyball Open: Men (quarterfinals): Lagnaidorj Delgerdalai (Mgl) beat Shivam Arora 7-2. Pre-quarterfinals: Shivam beat Kyle Akaloo (RSA) 7-6; Delgerdalai beat Sundeep Gulati 7-4.

Women (Quarterfinals): Waratthanun Sukritthanes (Thai) beat Amee Kamani 6-1; Marion Jude (Fra) beat Keerthana Pandian 4-3 (on time). Pre-quarters: Amee Kamani beat Vidya Pillai 5-3 (on time); Keerthana Pandian beat Nicola Rossouw (RSA) 5-4 (on time).
